LOOT CDMX: LOCAL NATIVES

LOOT CDMX opened its doors to the public on October 3rd with an esteemed event: an acoustic showcase by the band, Local Natives.
El pasado 3 de octubre, LOOT abrió sus puertas al público con un evento de primer nivel: un showcase acústico de Local Natives.

Formed in 2005, the Indie Californian band visited our country to perform three shows as the closure to the promotional tour of its newest disc, Sunlit Youth. The final concert was scheduled for a Tuesday night at the Lunario of Auditorio Nacional, and at the last minute, the artists decided to take a more intimate approach and share the new LOOT space with their fans.

The venue and the acoustics were ideal for this small showcase, hosting no more than 150 people who found out about the event through social networks. The presentation began in the early afternoon, and the band played with two acoustic guitars, keys, floor tom and, of course, their beautifully melancholic voices.

After a brief interview for LMYK, the musicians– Taylor, Ryan, Kelsey, Matt and Nik– saluted the attendants in their improvised but charismatic Spanish, and delighted everyone with their acoustic versions which echoed in the hall at LOOT. They opened with Wide Eyes, and were especially applauded for Who Knows, Who Cares and the hit, Airplanes, or “Aeroplanos,” as vocalist Kelsey introduced the final song.

The show was very emotional. Towards the end of the gig, Taylor (voice and guitar) thanked for everyone for their presence and the opportunity to play; he also recognized the terribly sad situation the country is facing after the earthquakes of the past few weeks, and announced the band’s decision to donate all the concert profits to the misfortunate.

After the show, all the band members remained available to take pictures with fans and sign autographs, and no one left the room without their own little memory of Local Natives. The artists stayed at LOOT until the after the place was empty.

LOOT CDMX, located at Guanajuato 227, Roma Norte, is a trendy relaxed work spot with a coffee bar, and a new space where we’ll be having plenty of events and gallery exhibitions.

La banda indie de California, E.U., formada en 2005, visitó nuestro país para dar una serie de tres conciertos como cierre de la gira promocional de su disco más reciente, Sunlit Youth, que estaba planeada para terminar con una presentación en el Lunario del Auditorio Nacional la noche del martes, pero, de última hora, el grupo decidió tener una convivencia más íntima con algunos de sus fans mexicanos antes de ese compromiso y LOOT los recibió para hacerlo.

El espacio y su acústica fueron ideales para esta pequeña presentación ante alrededor de 150 entusiastas que se enteraron del evento a través de redes sociales y se presentaron pasado el mediodía para ver al quinteto interpretar algunas de sus canciones, acompañados solo con dos guitarras acústicas, un tambor, un teclado y, claro, sus bellamente melancólicas voces.

Después de dar una entrevista para LMYK, Taylor, Ryan, Kelsey, Matt y Nik saludaron a los asistentes (hablando en español tanto como pudieron) y los deleitaron con versiones acústicas, que sonaron perfecto en Loot, de temas como Wide Eyes (con la que empezaron), Who Knows, Who Cares y la muy coreada “Aeroplanos” (Airplanes), como la presentó Kelsey, vocalista principal, para terminar.

La presentación fue excelente y muy emotiva. Hacia el final de la misma, Taylor (voz y guitarra) agradeció la oportunidad y la presencia de todos, y además reconoció la lamentable situación en la que está nuestro país después de los terremotos, por lo que anunció que al llegar a la CDMX tomaron la decisión de donar las ganancias del concierto a los damnificados del desastre.

Para cerrar con broche de oro, al terminar el show case todos los miembros de la banda se quedaron con la mejor actitud para tomarse fotos y firmar autógrafos con todos los asistentes que lo quisieran (que fueron prácticamente el 100%) y ahí permanecieron hasta que el LOOT quedó vació.

LOOT CDMX, ubicado en Guanajuato 227, Roma Norte, es un nuevo espacio en el que tendremos más eventos y exposiciones en la galería, además de ofrecer un lugar para trabajar y disfrutar de un café.
